For the first time in Ukraine – Furmint crafted using the winemaking technique of stabulation.
Furmint Founder’s Reserve is the result of experience, mastery, and the creative pursuit of the Chateau Chizay team. It proves our ability to expertly work with this demanding yet highly promising variety. The founder of the company, Hugo Gutman, not only supported the idea of creating [Furmint](https://chizay.com/furmint/) in this style but also personally selected this wine for his private Founder’s Reserve collection after tasting.
An exceptional harvest from a 6-hectare plot in the Midianytsia microzone and the use of stabulation technology. Thanks to 10 days of lees aging at low temperatures and delicate handling, we preserved the freshness and complex aromas of Furmint. Six months of aging in oak barrels followed by ten months in bottles have given the wine a pleasant creamy texture.
Only 1,988 bottles produced.
Bronze medal (88 points out of 100) Decanter World Wine Awards 2026.
Gold medal Mundus Vini – 2026.
The 2023 vintage Furmint has a pale golden color and a rich aroma blending green apples, pears, and citrus fruits with vanilla, spicy oak notes, and a touch of minerality.
Bright acidity enhances the fruitiness on the palate, while barrel aging adds creamy and spicy nuances.
Furmint pairs beautifully with seafood, white meats, roasted vegetables, and soft cheeses like Mozzarella or Feta. It also complements dishes from Zakarpattia cuisine, such as cheese (brynza) dumplings, grilled trout, or traditional Carpathian banosh.
