Congratulations to Chateau Chizay on winning the platinum medal and 5 gold medals at the Wine & Spirits Ukraine Awards international competition!
The 2023 Wine & Spirits Ukraine Awards international competition brought 6 top awards to Chateau Chizay winery. Once again, the legendary “Troyanda Karpat” received attention, along with new grape spirits, and the highly anticipated release from the winery – sparkling wine made using the classic champagne method.
All the awards are pleasant, but some of them hold special significance. Founder of the winery, Hugo Gutman, shares which ones and why.
The platinum medal and 5 gold ones – such a result for Chateau Chizay at the international competition held in Kyiv in November 2023.
And Chateau Chizay will present its new classic method sparkling wine for the first time at the Ukrainian wine festival in Bukovel, starting on November 17.
Platinum medal at the Wine & Spirits Ukraine Awards 2023:

🏆 Carpathian Sekt Chersegi extra dry sparkling wine
🏆 Sekt Selection brut nature sparkling wine (classic method)
🏆 Grape White Blend fortified grape beverage
🏆 Grape Gold Blend fortified grape beverage
🏆 Cherry liqueur
Following a good tradition, each product presented by the winery received high, even the highest, scores at the competition.
Founder of Chateau Chizay, Hugo Gutman, says:
“It is a great joy to have a new reason to congratulate the team and thank them for the result. Thanks to the grape growers for their dedication and hard work.
Special thanks to the director Dmitry Sholudko, laboratory manager Inha Lebid, chief winemaker Zoltan Udvarhelyi, technologist Oleksandr Vasyluk, and for creating the award-winning fortified beverages.
By the way, the new awards, especially the “platinum” for the “Troyanda Karpat”, once again confirm the quality and status of Chateau Chizay wines, chosen as ambassadors of Ukrainian winemaking in the world’s leading wine museum La Cité du Vin (Bordeaux, France).
And we have a special event at this competition – for the first time, we submitted for evaluation a sparkling wine created using the classic champagne method. And immediately – gold.
Today, the bottles of Sekt Selection still have no label; this is an absolute novelty and an absolutely unique story. Because we laid our first “classic” sparkling wine in bottles on February 24, 2022. We will tell you more about this special wine soon. Coming soon.
