Chateau Chizay winery together with colleagues presented Ukrainian wines to the world’s elite industry at Pro Wein Dusseldorf
To introduce Ukraine to the whole wine world. Chateau Chizay Winery had an opportunity and honor to do it at the leading wine exhibition in Germany – Pro Wein Dusseldorf. The wine producers of Ukraine (of Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Donetsk and Transcarpathian regions) introduced Wines of Ukraine to the world elite of the wine industry as a united front, presenting their showcase wines and telling about our country.
Connoisseurs and potential customers were surprised by autochthonous varieties, special technologies, and iconic wines.
Thus, the company Chateau Chizay presented the legendary dessert wine, a hallmark of Transcarpathian winemaking – “Troyanda Karpat” (“Rose of the Carpathians“). In 2022, this wine received the Gold Medal and the Best Wine By Quality Award of Paris Wine Cup.
During the presentation, wine expert Yevhenia Nikolaichuk spoke about winemaking in different regions of Ukraine and, in fact, about Ukraine as a wine-growing state: diverse, with a deep history and extremely promising.
“Strong interest, surprise and delight – this is how you can describe the reaction of the guests of the presentation. The Wines of Ukraine performance was total success. And in all conversations, discussions, probably 80% of questions concerned Ukraine. So, by representing wines, we represented Ukraine.
Did we open it to our guests as a wine country? – Yes, we did. Ukrainian wines and winemaking of Ukraine were worthily presented. Many thanks to all those who took part in organizing the event, including Yevhenia Nikolaichuk, Wine & Spirits Ukraine CEO Victoria Agromakova, Svitlana Tsybak, Geisenheim Institute represented by Andriy Tarasov and Consul General of Ukraine in Dusseldorf Iryna Shum,” said the vice-president for the development of Chateau Chizay Olexandra Polishchuk.
Pro Wein in Düsseldorf is one of the largest and most prestigious events in the field of wine making. Participants are represented by many experts, thematic media, people of the world of winemaking and wine trade, buyers, importers. It is there that agreements on the export of Ukrainian wines are concluded. By the way, Estonia, Singapore and China have recently joined the list of countries where Chateau Chizay supplies wine, and cooperation with the United Kingdom is intensifying. The wines of Ukraine and, in particular, Transcarpathia, prove that they are worthy of the world’s attention and respect.
According to Yevhenia Nikolaichuk, the situation in the country has changed the format and scale of the presentation, but it is important that the acquaintance took place:
“If it weren’t the war, this year for the first time Ukrainian winemakers would represent our country at the collective stand “Wines of Ukraine”. If it weren’t the war, we would have finished the identity development campaign for the first Wines of Ukraine stand, which can be used at future events…
There may be many more “if it weren`t the war”. But the main thing is that even in these conditions we managed to make a lecture and tasting about our local wines. And we managed to present our wines collectively.
My gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and everyone involved for the support at the state level since November! Let everything that was planned since last year, succeed on March 23 at the next ProWein event. We have another year for a full good debut. My wish to you: drink Ukrainian, because it’s worth it!”
We believe that soon the whole civilized world will have the opportunity to celebrate the Victory of Ukraine. Ideally – with a glass of Ukrainian wine 💛💙
