Chizay Wine Run 2021 – annual trail run at famous ukrainian vineyards
Chizay Wine Run is the only vineyard trail run in Ukraine. On Sunday, September 12, it took place for the third time. 64 people aged 10 to 60 were running 3.5 km through the vineyards of Chateau Chizay near Beregovo in Transcarpathia.
Chizay Wine Run – already a traditional sport event, takes place just when the grapes are ripening.
Participants run around vines of different varieties like Traminer, Riesling, Muscat Ottonel, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chersegi Fuseres and others.
Straight the next day after the race, Chateau Chizay winery starts harvesting grapes. The first grapes go for sparkling wine Carpathian Sekt from a unique for Ukraine grape variety Chersegi.
