Silver Medal from London – for Grape White Blend
Strong drinks from Chateau Chizay have received their next award, and this is the first international recognition for Grape White Blend. Our first strong drink, based on grape distillate, received a Silver Medal at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.
The competition took place in London. Its history dates back to 1969 when the IWSC was established as a professional contest based on a scientific approach and professional tasting.
Today, the International Wine and Spirits Competition is also a community of professionals in the wine and spirits industry in Europe and worldwide.
Experience, impeccable reputation, and high standards are what IWSC has carried through the years, being a quality professional international platform. IWSC prides itself on evaluating and showcasing some of the world’s best alcoholic beverages.
This year, around a hundred international jury members evaluated the spirits in the competition, with more than 4,000 samples submitted from all over the world. So, the competition was more than fierce.
The strong grape beverage Grape White Blend is crafted through the distillation of aromatic wine made from select Furmint and Chersegi grapes. Over seven months of resting in special tanks, it develops a unique palette of aromas and flavors.
This drink is beloved for its noble grape character and soft taste with fruity nuances.
Grape White Blend pairs interestingly with cuisine and also makes an excellent digestif – a drink to conclude a meal. Try it chilled in its pure form.
And since the beverage is somewhat similar to Italian grappa, we also recommend trying it in the Italian way – caffè corretto: pour 15 grams of the distillate into an empty espresso cup and enjoy the aromatic spectrum.
Here’s how the IWSC judges described Grape White Blend:
“Floral notes with hints of peach sorbet and apricot blossom, along with a slight salinity of seaweed. The finish has a distinct maltiness. The finish is very pleasant”.
