Carpathian Sekt

This sparkling wine is crafted with respect for the history of Transcarpathia. “Sekt” is the term for sparkling wines in Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic at the end of the 19th century, during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Later, this term was used for sparkling wines in Czechoslovakia. Transcarpathia inherited these traditions, and each of these wines is exclusive to Ukraine. Today, you can order such wine with delivery.

“Carpathian Sekt” is a unique name that Chateau Chizay revives for sparkling wines from Transcarpathia. Carpathian Sekt wines are created using the European Charmat-Martinotti method. This method, also known as the tank or autoclave method, involves natural fermentation in large vessels (tanks or autoclaves), after which the finished sparkling wine is bottled. This method ensures the delicacy and freshness of aroma and taste.

Traditionally, the best sparkling wines in Europe were single-variety wines – made from a single grape variety. We created three of our sects from special varieties that grow in the vineyards of Chateau Chizay: the unique local Chershegi, the legendary Rosé Traminer, and the European favorite Blaufränkisch.
